Wanganui is a wonderful place, full of activities and things to do. The Sarjeant Gallery, Waimarie paddlesteamer, Wanganui Museum, parks, fishing, sport, and entertainment it's all here. It's so central.

Wanganui is a special place in winter and a great point from which to explore the Whanganui River, Mt Taranaki and New Plymouth, Wellington, the Kapiti Coast and the Tongariro National Park and the Skifields on Mount Ruapehu. All are within hours drive. With the good snow this winter Day trips from Wanganui to the skilfields are an excellent idea.

Many people choose Wanganui as a base.
